APIARY SUPPORT EASTERN UGANDA - ASEU

ASEU mainly targets the women and young girls in the rural community, children as the main driving force to alleviate poverty and protect the environment against environmental degradation. Dutch citizens Theo Sinke and Piet de Meester are the masterminds behind this organisation having created it with the sole aim of empowering the local community with a sustainable and reliable source of income for their families.

Vision

To become a leading bee keeping organisation, that empowers communities to create, control, participate and own their development process and destiny while creating a world of efficient and sustainable resources utilization, making sustainable development an all inclusive agenda, whereby everybody inclusive of future generations participates and enjoys their due share of the national resources.

Mission

To empower the young girls and women in the local communities with skills in bee keeping, as a way of addressing rural poverty and fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), environmental conservation and general health issues.

Goal

To empower the young girls and women in the local communities through sustainable development by exploiting the linkages of bee keeping, agriculture and environmental conservation.

Our Target


The project aims to target mostly young girls and women, most especially the unemployed. The project will cover all the districts and their sub counties in the Eastern part of Uganda. Over 100,000 families will be targeted as direct beneficiaries of the program over a period of 5 years. The productive units will be involved in the various activities of the agricultural production and environmental protection.

Our Objectives

To provide technical support in bee keeping through the various training sessions that are done to help and train farmers on bee keeping.

To provide farmers with financial support in bee keeping through the harvesting gears and bee hives that are donated to them.

To promote bee farming and processing quality honey products to enhance value chain additions and to attract better prices.

To help farmers produce and market their produce and bee keeping products to viable high value markets: a development that shall assist in improving their sources of livelihood and as an excellent opportunity to generate higher incomes.

To organise, strengthen, and train youths and local communities on bee hive construction, honey processing and general knowledge of bee keeping skills and techniques.

To encourage the youth to take on leadership roles in promoting environmental ownership and sustainability.

To address challenges related to beekeeping techniques such as creating product market linkages, innovations and sustainable management of natural and planted woodlands from which the bees harvest pollen and nectar.

To organise visits and networking of bee farmers, so that they can liase or work jointly with, or be affiliated to such bodies, organisations or institutions as may be amendable to the objectives of the organisation, both government, non governmental and at international level to obtain from such bodies whatever assistance the organisation may deem it desirable to obtain.

Our Competence

The core competence of the organisation is to make farmers highly qualified, committed and experienced in bee farming . The organisation strives to ensure that all key stakeholders are given the opportunities to contribute to the decision making processes of the organisation. This has enabled the organisation to understand and address the community’s needs in a timely and efficient manner.

TECHNOLOGY: The organisation aims to invest and adapt to the use of the latest and most efficient technology governing bee farming.

EQUIPMENT / FACILITIES: The organisation has an office in Jinja and Namayingo districts and expects to open more office branches in the remaining districts of Eastern Uganda. The organisation has computers and basic office equipment to support its work..
